Career and Life
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is one of the two major political parties in India, positioned on the right-wing to far-right of the political spectrum. The party was formally founded on April 6, 1980, after the dissolution of the Janata Party coalition. Its origins lie in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), which was established in 1951 by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The BJP maintains close ideological and organizational links to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The official ideology of the party is Integral Humanism, formulated by Deendayal Upadhyaya. The party advocates for Hindutva, a Hindu nationalist ideology. Since 2014, the party has been the ruling political power in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As of January 2024, it is the country's largest political party in terms of representation in Parliament and state legislatures.
